About Ms. Gustafson

Ms. Gustafson with some of her friends from the 2012-2013 school year at our end of the year field trip to Wildcat Mountain State Park.
Teaching first grade at La Farge Elementary is my dream job!  I love teaching and living in such a small close-knit community.  I especially enjoy teaching early reading and writing skills, and hope to inspire a love of reading and writing in all of my students! I have degrees from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities, UW- La Crosse, UW- Stevens Point, and UW-Stout.
I am certified to teach early childhood regular and special education, and elementary education through grade 6. This past year, I also became a certified reading teacher, and I am currently working on becoming a Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach.
My husband Jake and I moved to Vernon County in 2006 from Northern Minnesota. We live outside of La Farge with our toddler son Alexander, where we raise chickens, ducks, geese, lots of vegetables, and keep bees for honey. In my time away from school I enjoy reading, cooking, and being active outside with hiking, running, canoeing and kayaking, and snowshoeing and skiing. This fall I am participating in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve's Dam Challenge and the Madison Half Marathon.
